otsukiai (お付き合い): "acquaintance"
In the Takarazuka fan club culture, an otsukiai is a person who helps a young star build up a fan base (see ouenkai). This person may be a relative of the star or an acquaintance from before her entrance into Takarazuka. Other times she may be one of the star's earliest fans who has the time and enthusiasm to help support her. Due to differences in opinion and/or difficulties in maintaining a club, this person may or may not become the daihyou when the star's official club is formed.
Many stars never have a formalized fanclub and simply work with their otsukiai to arrange fan meetings and distribute tickets for their entire career.
